Egham Residents' Association

Egham people involved in Egham issues.

Our History

In the late 1970s Runnymede Council proposed to build houses on Manorcroft Playing Field between the railway station and the school. Egham residents reacted against the possible loss of this well used amenity by forming the Manorcroft Field Protection Group.

At a public meeting of in October 1983 concern was expressed about other council plans which would remove amenities enjoyed by Egham residents. It was proposed that a Town Ward residents' association be formed to look after the interests of the whole of Egham. From this Egham Residents' Association was formed with llOO members.

Since then a great many causes have been taken up with some success. Current issues with which, ERA are involved are the proposals for the expansion of the M25, the building of Terminal 5 at Heathrow, potential loss of Green Belt and the continued threat of gravel raising. The more members we have the bigger our voice and the greater chance of success. if you live within the Egham Town Ward and are concerned about the future of your Town then join ERA now!
